Community Overview

EllisCountyis located south of DFW Metroplex.  EllisCountyhas approximately 145,000 residents in a mostly rural setting with the largest city having 30,000 residents.  Ellis County cities offer excellent schools, outstanding shopping without the crowds, and many restaurants to provide you with a rounded lifestyle.  See the lists of establishments in each city.  EllisCountyto downtown Dallasis about 17 miles.  Ellis County has a great infrastructure with I-45 on the East side, I -35 on the West, and Hwy 287 going northwest to Southeast through Midlothian, Waxahachie, and Ennis the three largest cities in the county.  Also Hwy 67 goes from Cedar Hill to Midlothian, then Venus,  Alvarado. 

Waxahachie, TXis the county seat of Ellis County located Southwest of Dallas (I-35 E) and Southeast of Ft Worth (US Hwy 287).  Waxahachie is known as the Gingerbread Capital of Texas with the numerous turn of the century homes.  These beautiful homes are restored and opened to the public during the Gingerbread Trail.  Come see the shopping, CivicCenter, parks and schools the Waxahachie has to offer.  Home prices range from $60,000 to over $500,000.   Waxahachie has large number of new resturants and shopping areas to go  with the historic downtown district.

Ennis has 19,000 residents with emphasis on family.  The Ennis High football team is recognized for their desire and hard play.  The downtown area is restored with many shops, restaurants, and office space available.  Ennis has a beautiful park with lake and sports complex.  Home prices range from $80,000 to over $400,000.  Ennis is the home of CVS Distribution Center and National Envelope.  Ennis has well  established subdivisions of varying size of homes and design.

Midlothian is located in the western part of the county at the intersection of Hwy 287 from Ft Worth and Hwy 67 from Dallas.  These two main US highways give you easy access to the Metroplex.  Midlothian has 17,000 residents with an outstanding educational system.  Multiple industries call Midlothian home including Chapprel Steel and several cement plants.

Red Oak ISD is located in the Northern section of the county.  The Red Oak ISD serves the cities of Red Oak, Ovilla, and Oak Leaf.  Each city has each unique subdivision with large lots of over 3/4 of an acre.

Maypearl is located in the western center of the county and offers the peaceful living style that many of us prefer.  Maypearl has beautiful rolling countryside with home sites from 1 acre to 20 acres.  Oak Branch Creek runs through Maypearl area.  Ellis County is a wonderful area to raise horses or other large animals.
